Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 September 2026
CourierTax is a trading name of Mark Horley, a sole trader based at 51 Hazel Street, Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, NG17 3FD, who is the data controller for the personal data described below. This policy explains what we collect when you buy or read the Courier Driver VAT Registration Guide, and why.
What we collect
- Name and email address — given at checkout, used to personalise and watermark your copy of the guide and to create your reader account;
- Order and payment records — the fact of your purchase, its date, and amount. We never see or store your card details; those are handled entirely by Stripe (see below);
- Account password — a password unique to your account is generated for you, so you can log back in on another device;
- A login session cookie — a strictly necessary cookie that keeps you signed in while reading the guide.
- Access records — each time you view a page of the guide, we log the date/time, your IP address, and your browser's user-agent string. This exists solely to establish whether and when digital content was accessed, which is relevant to your cancellation rights (see our Refund Policy) and to resolving payment disputes.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To create your account, generate your personalised guide, and give you access to it — necessary to perform our contract with you;
- To email you your access link and password, and to respond if you contact us for support — necessary to perform our contract, or our legitimate interest in providing customer support;
- To keep basic order records for accounting and tax purposes — a legal obligation we're subject to;
- To keep access records so we can establish whether digital content was accessed and when, if a payment or refund dispute arises — our legitimate interest in defending against unfounded claims, balanced against your privacy (we only log access to your own account's pages, and only what's needed: timestamp, IP, and browser).
- To measure how our advertising performs and to see aggregate visit numbers for the Site — our legitimate interest in understanding and growing the business, balanced against your privacy (see "Advertising and analytics" below for what this does and doesn't involve).
Advertising and analytics
We use the Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Pixel on some pages to measure how our adverts perform and to build advertising audiences. This sets cookies and shares some technical data (like your IP address and browser) with Meta — see Meta's own privacy policy for how it handles that. You can block it using your browser's built-in tracking protection or an ad blocker without any effect on buying or reading the Guide.
We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see overall visit numbers to the Site. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't track or identify individual visitors — it only gives us aggregate counts (e.g. how many people visited a page).
Who we share it with
Stripe processes your payment and collects your card details directly — we never see them. Stripe may process data outside the UK; it does so under its own privacy policy and appropriate safeguards. We also use standard hosting and infrastructure providers to run the Site and store data securely; they only process data on our instructions and don't use it for their own purposes.
If you don't hear from us, if email delivery isn't enabled at the time of your purchase, your access link and password are also shown directly on the confirmation page as a backup — no third party sees them in that case.
If you buy using a referral/affiliate discount code, the affiliate whose code you used will be able to see your name, email address, and purchase date on their own affiliate dashboard, so they can track their own referrals and what they're owed. We don't share any other order, account, or access details with them.
We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone for marketing purposes.
How long we keep it
We keep account and order records for as long as your account is active, plus a period afterwards to meet our UK tax record-keeping obligations (normally up to 6 years). You can ask us to delete your account sooner — see your rights below.
Affiliates
If you apply to the CourierTax affiliate program, we additionally collect your name, email address, a password for your affiliate dashboard, the social media handles you provide, and the PayPal email address you'd like commission paid to. We use this to review your application, run your discount code, calculate what you're owed, and pay you — necessary to perform our contract with you as an affiliate. Commission is paid manually to the PayPal email you give us; we don't share it with PayPal or anyone else, beyond what's needed to create your discount code in Stripe. We keep affiliate records for as long as your account is active, plus the same accounting retention period as order records above. The rights listed below apply equally to your affiliate data.
If you're approved, your dashboard shows the name, email address, and purchase date of anyone who buys using your code, so you can see who you've referred. It also shows how many times your link/QR code has been opened, so you can gauge interest even where it hasn't led to a sale yet — that count is anonymous; we don't identify who opened it unless they go on to buy.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you can ask us to:
- Confirm what personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- Correct inaccurate data;
- Delete your data, or restrict how we use it, where applicable;
- Receive your data in a portable format;
- Object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
To exercise any of these, email hello@couriertax.co.uk. If you're not happy with our response, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
The Guide is aimed at adults running their own self-employed courier or delivery business. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — the "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version.
